The Division adopts and enforces nationally recognized safety codes to protect Vermonters from the risk of fire, explosion and carbon monoxide poisoning. All individuals engaged in the inspection, installation, and service of Propane (LP) or Natural Gas systems must be certified as required under the Vermont Fire and Building Safety Code.
CTEP PROGRAM TRANSITITION TO PEP PROGRAM
Existing CETP certificates will be given credit and carried forward. The CETP books must be completed and transcripts issued.
PEP training will be accepted if the transcript provided by a person requesting certification shows full completion of each required module.
Combination of CETP and PEP training- A combination of CETP and PEP training records may be submitted as proof of training for evaluation for a Vermont Gas Certification. The Training submitted must meet all the requirements for each certification.
Example: All the PEP equivalent training (modules) per CETP book must be completed and submitted for review. CETP consisted of “books” as blocks of instruction, PEP will have modules; where multiple modules will replace the CETP “Books” as they come online and are available.

PERC has taken the key learnings from CETP and broken it down in smaller, module-based learning paths. The focus on smaller modules of instruction has the dual benefit of increasing knowledge retention and higher course completion rates. All available programs can now be found on our updated Gas Application
