Firefighter I Orientation - East Montpelier

Orientation - Wednesday, August 21 at 1800 (Classes will be on Wednesday nights and some weekend days)

Click here for a General admission application form or you can download one from our website and submit it for the program you want to attend. Applications and other documentation are due by 4 PM on the application deadline listed above. Please send applications and certifications to: DPS.VFAApplications@vermont.gov. The capacity limit is 40 and the minimum is 15 students per program, admission will be determined by the date your application is received, with priority given to adult firefighters who are members of a Vermont Fire Department.

REMINDER: Applicants who have already completed any of the classes listed below and do not wish to repeat the class within the Firefighter program, must submit the respective course completion certificate/card to the Vermont Fire Academy by the application deadline.

- CPR (current valid card)
- First Aid (current valid card)
- National Traffic Incident Management (within the last 10 years)
- Hazardous Material Operations (within 2 editions of the current standard)
- Wildland Fire Control (within the last 10 years)

If you have the following certificates, please submit them as well, you will still need to attend a table-top exercise:
-ICS 100 (taken within the last 10 years)

If we don’t receive any of the above, students will be expected to attend the class when it is offered within the program.

Student manuals are not returnable after Orientation. The sponsoring department will be charged for the cost of the student materials if a student fails to complete the program.

Students must be 18 years of age at the start date of the program that they are enrolling in.
