Vermont Energy Goals Education

In the 2020 Legislative session, (S.220) was signed into law requiring many trade professionals to complete a Vermont Energy Goals Education Module. The law required the Department of Public Service, in consultation with the Agency of Natural Resources, to develop an educational module describing Vermont’s Energy Goals. The educational module and completion certificate may be accessed by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
If you are applying for a new license or certification or renewing an existing license or certification, due to expire after July 1, 2021, you are required to complete the educational module. Please make sure you provide a copy of the completion certificate with your application. The educational module, linked below, will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The module may also be included in continuing education programs instructed by our approved continuing education providers, employers or completed independently.
The new law applies to the following trades listed below:
• Licensed Electricians
• Licensed Plumbers
• Oil and Gas Appliance Technicians
• Commissioned Boiler Inspectors

If you are a CEU provider or an apprenticeship instructor and you deliver the module as part of your instruction, we ask that you provide verbiage on the student’s certificate of completion validating completion of the Vermont Energy Goal Educational Module. Though not required to be part of a CEU program, it may be found to be very convenient for instructors to simply add a notation on their completion certificate for validation purposes.

If you are an individual trade person and have a license or certification due to expire after July 1, 2021, you will need to complete the Educational Module program, save the completion certificate created at the end of the program and include this with your renewal application. You can also upload a copy, along with your supporting documentation of CEU hours, to be included in your electronic submittals, if that option is currently available to your specific trade.
