**A minimum of 15 qualifying student applications that will be attending the complete day must be submitted by the application deadline in order for the course to be held without cost on each day, I have attached the application to use. Non-Vermont Fire Department members who are over the age of 18 may apply but there must be at least eight Vermont Firefighters already enrolled for them to count towards the minimum student number for the course to be held at no cost. The class maximum is 40 or the max the classroom will hold. I have attached an application for your use.
Applications will continue to be accepted after the application deadline as long as the course minimum has been met by the deadline, adequate instructor staffing is available, and space allows.
Course description – Lithium-ion batteries are becoming commonplace on the roads, in industrial settings, and in the residential fire environment, and pose unique challenges to the fire service. This 3-hour course introduces students to how lithium-ion battery systems work, how they fail, and how they burn. It provides students with tactical guidance for safely and effectively dealing with fires in electric vehicles, energy storage systems, e-mobility devices, and other applications of lithium-ion battery technology.
